What you can do to get your child interested in sports

If you are a parent, you will always want your child to grow both mentally and physically, and sports are a great way to make that happen. But many parents in India think of sports as a hindrance to their child’s academics; they don’t want to let their kids divert their attention from studies even if they are more interested in sports. They want their kids to be interested in sports as a hobby and nothing more. Yes, everyone needs to know sports are great for cognitive and physical strength, but that is just not it today; with the abundant resources, you can easily support your child to reach their highest potential in any sports they want and let them grow a career out of it.

Today some sports apps can give you all the information you need, like booking top sports venue, discovering all about different kinds of sports, playing with other players, etc.

These sports booking apps are perfect for your child to find out what one sport excites them.

Right now, kids are more inclined toward online games; even toddlers are aware of how to operate a smartphone. Kids are losing their interest in sports and would rather spend hours on a Nintendo than take participation in a basketball league or badminton tournaments. In order for a child to develop a habit of sports, parents must take steps to cultivate it early.

What can you do to make your kids interested in sports?

We all know how kids learn – by seeing. So this is precisely what you have to do. It would be bluff if we are teaching our children to stay fit and on the other side, we are sitting in front of your TV all day. Just preaching won’t work; you have to lead by example. You have to stay active as well. You can join a club, hit the gym, play soccer, join games at basktball courts, or go cycling.

You are your child’s first mentor. You have to play with them to make it fun but competitive. Go on bike rides with your child after your child learns to ride a bike. It can be as simple as riding down the street or as adventurous as mountain biking through the woods. You can purchase a basketball hoop and teach them the fundamentals of dribbling and shooting. Even make a football pitch at home and teach how to shoot, pass and receive. When you go to the gym, bring your child along and engage them in fun activities.

Make sure that some of your family trips include physical activity, such as playing sports together. For example, instead of relying on you to drive them on short trips, please encourage them to walk or ride their bike. You can even consult with your child’s doctor and their sports coach about what kind of sports are better for your children but do not force them to learn any specific sport; let them decide that. All you have to do is support them.
